The route of Tierra Estella Epic has a particular physiognomy. It is not distinguished by big climbs or hard descents.

Its main feature is that it is full of small challenges interspersed with more comfortable areas for active recovery.

These challenges or difficulties are mainly made up of singletracks or trails, sections where their width in many cases does not exceed one meter, so it is essential to maintain concentration to overcome them. You can also find small climbs that are not very long but where the gradient can exceed double digits.

Difficulty
level

As most of the participants do not know the terrain, the names of the singletracks have no meaning for them. This means not knowing how difficult they are.

To try to facilitate the knowledge of the route, we have ranged the difficulty level of the singletracks from 1 star to 5 stars.

Since there are many variables and no mathematical formula to determine a value, this ranking leveles are completely subjective. But within this subjectivity we have tried to combine the opinion of different users with different data such as:

Singletrack EXPOSURE

It is necessary to evaluate if the singletrack is very exposed on one of its sides with the consequent risk of a dangerous fall. This type of trail generates in some participants a "stage fright" in the face of this risk of falling, which in many cases can lead to blockage.

Lenght

A 200m singletrack is not the same as a 6000m singletrack. Regardless of other factors, length is one of the most important ones.

Type of land

Compact, stony or rocky material, these are the different terrains on which the singletracks run.

NATURAL ELEMENTS ON WHIC I TREAD

There are routes full of rocks and jumps that make the test more difficult.

SINGLETRACK POSITION ON THE ROUTE

Keep in mind that it is not the same to run a singletrack with fresh mind and legs or when several hours have passed, as fatigue takes its toll on the legs and reflexes.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SLOPE AND FLAT ROUTE.

There are singletracks that have a bit of everything, others are only uphill or downhill. This factor must be considered and will depend on what is the weak point of each of the participants, uphill or downhill.
